The South Alabama Electric Cooperative seeks a well-qualified accountant for a full-time position responsible for a range of duties, including maintaining the general ledger and fixed assets, preparing month-end and year-end reports, assisting external auditors, and more.
This is a great opportunity for the right professional, someone interested in joining the rural electric distribution cooperative at its headquarters in Troy, Alabama. With a membership of about 17,000, the cooperative serves seven South Alabama counties.
Other duties include assisting in balancing accounts receivable accounts, assisting with bank reconciliations, preparing accounts payable invoices for disbursement, assisting in processing Form 1099s, and computing and paying various taxes for the cooperative.

Job Requirements
Requirements for the position include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or the equivalent in education and experience. Applicants should have an understanding of professional accounting practices and principles, including a knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles applicable to accounting practices and financial reporting.
